Take a look at what they did to the Hughes/Brody residence in the Hilltop neighborhood. Does that look like anybody's house that you know? I'll give you a hint: California Contemporary in Hilltop-Crestmoor neighborhood.

wow, that looks beautiful. Is that your house in the other pictures? Or the "before" from the architect's project? That style home is very cool, and looks like endless possibilities to blend retro with current designs.
Room and board and Scandinavian Designs are both awesome! I just got a whole new batch of dining and living room furniture from r&b, and it is gorgeous. Clean lines, solid construction, and timeless.
I've also seen that Police Station you mention, and clearly Roth&Sheppard have a vision that is similar to my own. You are lucky to have such a talented firm make a presentation.
I am very glad that there are companies who focus on aestetics. We often don't appreciate the beauty around us - take it for granted. The place i work is hideous - tile floors, dirty carpet, white walls, pictures from the 70's, minimalistic plastic cubicle furniture. Makes it difficult to hang around any longer than you have to. We should hire Roth&Sheppard.
Do you work for Roth&Sheppard? That sure was a lot of enthusiasm and plugs!
I appreciate your comments, they are inspiring and right in line with our business study.
We have to provide a work environment that attracts people and energy. Not-surprisingly, R&S surveyed their employees and found that they need an office facelift to inspire and enhance productivity.
The ScandinavianDesign project they are doing is phenominal; a very modern exterior with actual homes built inside of the store for displays.
Mine is the 'before' and I'm stuck, because I don't have the vision to turn it into an 'after.'
What does your place look like with the influences of your great tastes?
I wish I had the creativity to work for an architecture firm! Mine is much more technical/operations focused (thus the drab office decor)
As far as my house goes - it is TINY! I have tried to create space by being minimalistic in my furniture choices (and strive daily to eliminate clutter), but have kept it warm with solid cherry/black steel "linear design-it-yourself" entertainment & china cabinets and earthtone/retro fabric "gigi" chairs and chenille sofa. The dining table is from BoConcept and is solid black (extension) and the dining chairs are sleek black leather covered masterpieces. A real splurge, but finally that "grown-up" feel that I have been without for a long time.
I do think I have somewhat of a vision/style - especially when compared to many other folks. For example, a cute tudor that I recently sold was RUINED by the new owners with HIDEOUS new fence and windows. My realtor has also told me that they have removed the original mosaic tile bathroom floor and lighting. Sigh... When I saw it last I cried...
Your project will someday become your dream home. Just be patient with the remodeling and furnishings. Buy a few good quality pieces that you LOVE, and fill in the gaps with striking accessories, lighting, and art. I realize that sounds fairly lame, but it took me 10 years to finally have the furnishings that I love and am proud of. Your house looks to have good bones, and the interior will someday be a showplace.
PS - this is a very impressive blog.
